Asus A8N sli premium
X2 4200

Just went from stock cooler to the freezer 64 pro. The temps didnt change at all. It was around 34 idle with stock. Now its 35 idle with the freezer. Whats up with that? Anyone have a similar build?

It's the load temps that should drop considerably. And there should be a drop in noise...

the RPM is 2400(ish) i swear im going to go insane...it has the highest pitch little whine. Its all my ears are focusing on now.

My p180 case fans arent even as loud. Is there a way to manually tone down the RPM. If i enable q-fan with asus probe the noise drops, but the RPM stays 1000(ish) and temps go up to 38c idle.

EDIT:

man even the mobo temps are way up now...40c!! bah! either this cooler is providing more heat to the mobo, or my passive cooling is slowly failing.

try resetting the heatsink.. sucks about that high pitch sound.. i'm suprised at how quiet the zalman 9500 is.. just got mine, didn't change the idle temps, but decreased the load temps by almost 10 degrees..

I've seen one run externally (just on psu power) at my local computer store and it was silent as hell. Try a replacement fan.

What are your ambient temps...

Its louder than stock. Doesnt cool as well as stock, and to make the fan silent i turn down the RPM to about 1200, but temps stay at 40c idle, which is 4c worse than my stock amd fan/heatsink.

I'd say the same thing...check the load temp...idle temps don't mean much of anything anyways...unless they're completely through the roof. If you load temps haven't changed either or have gotten worse then I'd recommend re-seating the '64, cus there's no reason the temps would be the same/worse as the boxed cooler.
