What kinds of oc speeds are you all getting? So far I am burning in mine at 2.41 stable. Might bump it up a few more mhz in the next few days...
 
Im also wondering, I mean ill prob get an opty, but If i run into another $150, ill grab an X2. Do you notice an increase if you go from 2 -> 2.4? What do you mean your burning in? Are your temps really high?
 
I meant I am just burning in the processor, just to see if it can run stable for 24 hours. Plus it allows the AS5 to cure/set in....
 
2.6ghz (2.6x10) on air (zalman 7700alcu) 1.525 vcore and temps are 30 idle 50 under dual prime. 24+hr 2xprime stable + 24hr memtest stable. See sig for rest of the system
 
I'm trying to overclock my X2 3800 right now but can't quite figure it out on my A8N-SLI. I want to set the multiplier at 10 and the FSB at ~240 but I'm not sure what, if any changes I need to make for RAM. A friend of mine thought that maybe the way RAM is handled with CPU overclocking has changed with new Motherboards but I really have no idea. I'm currently using 2 stick of this RAM. Anyone that can help me get this figured out?

I'm currently running my X2 3800+ @ 2.8Ghz 1.4 volts. I believe it is a Toledo with half the cache disabled - thou' CPU-z says it is a Manchester core(?)

Cpu-z 2.8Ghz@1.4 v

These are the specs. for my system:

AMD64 X2 3800+@2.8Ghz 1.4v (idle 30oC, Loaded 52oC)
Thermalright XP90 with 92mm fan
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum BIOS 1.9
Antec Truepower 480W
(2x512Mb) 1Gb Crucial Ballistix PC4000 @ 233Mhz 2.5,2,2,5 1T

I have primed this for 13 hours with 2 instances of prime with no failures.

I have also ran it at 2.85Ghz@1.45v but the cores fail between 6 and 8 hours - I've tried up the voltages to 1.55v but the temperatures under load soar to 60oC which I thinks is pushing it with my cooling.

Priming @ 2.85Ghz 1.45v

And yes the 52oC is the idle temperature! I recommend RMClock to get the idle down...
 
I finaly ordered all my parts this last week and should have everything by the weekend.. i'm hoping to be able to get a really nce overclock on mine..

ended up going with the following:

amd64 athlon x2 3800+ -- toledo core (hoping it really is a 4400+ rebadge w/ 512kb)
asrock 939dual-sata2 mb - should have gone dfi but i think with the mods this could be huge
thermalright si-120 heatsync - !!!
panaflo m1a 120mm fan - !!!
2 x 512mb crucial ballistix ddr400 - reviews i read show this having a ton of potential.
ocz 520w modright power supply - needed a new ps
sapphire x800gto2 - overclocks/unlocks to x850xt pe equiv..
4 x panaflo l1a 80mm case fans..
ati cooler 5 rev 2 - to cool graphics card
ocz ddr booster - to allow me to raise the ballistix ram up to ~3v instead of volt mod..
dell 2405fpw - sickest lcd i've ever used..

any ideas on how fast i might be able to get this all to go?

Read most of that sticky and still had the troubles of messing around with the a8n-sli motherboard. Guess I will just have to keep trying to figure it out. That sticky has so much information in it that's it's a little overwhelming for someone just learning the basics of overclocking

I have:
ASRock Dual-939 SATA2
X2 3800+ w/ Stock cooler
2x512 HyperX PC3200
X800XT PE
Enermax 550w

I can only boot into windows with any kind of stability at 2100mhz-ish. I can make it into windows at 2200 then it locks up quickly. I've tried lowering the HTT to 800mhz or 600mhz, have upped the voltage to 1.4 and have lowered the memory speed. CPU temps are staying under 50c.

I have plenty of experience OCing, but this is my first time with an A64. I know it's not the memory, because even with the memory seriously underclocked its no good. I doubt the problem is my PSU, it's a pretty solid setup. I could replace the cooler, but I've always had better luck than this with amd stock coolers...
 
me? I've ran the memory at 166 and 133... I think I've ruled out the memory.
 
I got a "dud," mine is a Toledo core with half cache disabled, but only O/Cs to approximately 2.4 GHz. I'm testing 304 x8 and it's unstable at 305. I have been able to run Prime95 for two days at 2.4 GHz (300x8) with 0 errors. I've tried pushing the core up above 1.6 volts, but it hasn't helped me get any higher and I'm afraid to push higher, even with my water cooling. I'm seeing load temps of 38-40 degrees celsius.

Unfortunately, it seems to be the second processor (CPU1) that fails at higher speeds. The other one seems to be able to get to around 2.5 GHz. I've been able to boot Windows at near 2.6 GHz. I should try different BIOS versions to try finding a more stable one, but I'm too lazy and 2.4 isn't too bad, benching at almost 4800+ x2 speeds (it seems most tasks don't miss the extra 512 per core too much).
 
I got 2.5 GHz (250 MHz x 10) relatively easily, but I decided to stop there so I could run my HTT at 4x 250 MHz. One day when I decide to mess with it more maybe I'll take it further.
 
Has anyone confirmed the whole "Toledos OC better than Manchesters" belief? Seems to me like it doesn't really matter which core it is.

thast very nice man can u tell me how much voltage that needs? i have a zalman 7000b alcu and im not sure how much "safe" voltage i can go.
 
I seriously have to question a 40c load temp.....you appear to be air cooled from your sig.....most temp sensors are off to varying degrees. Especially dependent on what the BIOS programmer wanted....I think your BIOS is a bit "optimistic".... :p

I have a Zalman 7700Cu and even with large amounts of airflow, at 2600 and 1.45v, I won't get better than 55c under a dual load of Prime torture test, ambient air temps of about 27c.


Load two prime runs for about 15 minutes and see what your temps are in the middle without letting anything finish....
