x2 3800 or E6200?

Assuming that the AMD price cuts are true and that the 3800 hits the 170$ mark, which would be better, the 2.0ghz x2 or the 1.6 ghz E6200? (both at DDR 667). All of the benchmarks around here seem to be for the 4mb cache processors, whereas the E6200 has 2mb. Traditionally how overclockable have been Intel's lower end chips?

Obvously, the x2 3800's performance is pretty well known- we know exactly what she is capable of. My rig is for gaming, btw. I'm just a poor college student ;)
 
Go with E6300 (1.86 GHz) $183.. sightly faster than X2 3800+ on performance.
 
The E6300 is far superior to the X3800+ and pretty much all the other X2s. Not to forget, it consumes less power and overclocks very well (past FX-62 levels).
 
Just buy what you want. If you want an AMD get that. If you want Intel get the 6300. Its your pc buy what you want.
 
oh well thats not a fair comparison.

the X2 prices will bottom out as soon as conroe becomes available. so your looking more to compare a X2 4400 with conroe E6200

Well no, one the E6200 won't be launching with the original Conroe/Allendale on July 23rd, and the 4400+ is 2x1MB core so the price will either reamin where it is, or it will simply disappear from AMD's pricing lists. So on july 24th it will still costs as it does now.

E6300 183US compares well to the X2 3800+ for 169US at that time.

i would choose this E6200.
