hey guys i have a x2 3800 and i have been able to get to 2400mhz
but once i use clockgen to get the htt to 245mhz windows freezes
do i need to up the vcore? how much
I am using stock cooling, my idle temps are 26c and 100% load is about 38c
I want to be able to hit 2.6ghz if possible

You should probably read the overclocking guide.

So, what is your maximum FSB speed when you have the HTT mult, CPU mult, and RAM mult turned down?

What is your max CPU speed with HTT mult and RAM mult turned down?

What is your max RAM speed with CPU mult and HTT mult turned down?

What are your HTT mult, RAM mult, and CPU mult when you hit the wall at 245FSB?

max fsb i reached was 298
max cpu speed a reached was 2500mhz and then windows froze
i didnt test the ram yet but it is ddr500 and is said to be able to hit 270mhz
the htt was 4, ram was 01/1 ratio and cpu mult was 10 when i hit the 245 fsb wall

I've had 2 3800s and a 170 and they all hit that wall at 2.45 before I squeezed a bit more by upping the voltage. I think this is normal performance for many of these chips. A guaranteed overclock of 20% without touching anything isn't too bad. In my case, I've settled on 2.52 just to keep the vcore at 1.5. I need to take it to 1.59v for the 170 to hit 2.6 steady, and it just isn't worth it to me. I'd feel pretty good about the performance if I didn't have to read all of these posts from guys hitting 2800+ on 1.4v...;-)
