Seasons Greetings everyone,

I'm YeZ from the Philippines, I have been lurking around the internet trying to look for news, forums, and reviews about videocards, and one of the very nice forums I found is Hardforum, so I decided to have my issue posted as well, I have been trying to upgrade my videocard, currently I'm just using my onboard video, my current system is a 3800+ amd x2 (Socket 939), 6150K8MA Foxconn, 1GB PC3200 DDR, 500Wattst PSU, now based on my research I found these 3 videocards (Radeon x1950XT 256MB, Radeon x1950PRO 512MB, Geforce 7950GT 512MB) to be the most in demand for midrange system, which also conforms to my budget, since 8800 series is too expensive for me :( ...

Now my question is which of these 3 videocards should I get that is most compatible (are there compatibility issues between my said system with this videocards??), power-efficient, cost-efficient; I usually play games like Oblivion, Titan Quest, Neverwinter nights, etc, kind of games, I'm a sucker for Role-Playing-Games!!! Another issue is that, the x1950XT is no where to be found in any of our retail stores here in my locality? thus that mean I will have to just settle for either x1950PRO or Geforce 7950GT? or do I have to wait until early next year?, maybe just maybe this card will be available by then.

Thank much guys and may you all have a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous Nuevo Anyo! :D

X1950XT is probably the best for your system, it's the most powerful out of the three and cost a reasonable $250 on Newegg.

Cards available in my locality...

Palit 7950GT 512MB -------------------------------------- 14,900php ($303.00 USD)
Gecube x1950PRO 512MB ----------------------------- 13,050php ($265.00 USD)
Gecube x1900XT 256MB --------------------------------- 14,500php ($295.00 USD)
Inno3D GF8800GTS ---------------------------------------- 24,500php ($498.00 USD)
x1950XT 250MB ---------------------------------------------- Not Available locally...

Can we Order items at Newegg to be delivered overseas (ex. the Philippines) ...?

No you can't they do not ship internationally accept Canada.

It is now nearly impossible to find a US etailer that ships internationally. There were a few a year or two ago, but it appears they have now stopped. I know this as I recently spent days trying to find one that did as pricing is better.

They don't ship to Canada either :(.

Out of your options, the X1900XT 256MB is the best card.

oouuuccchhh!!! no overseas delivery :p

Personally I prefer the Radeon x1950XT, but my problem is its availability... Maybe people in my locality doesn't find this card attractive since it only has a 256MB of Video memory  , I think they prefer videocards that is cheap with larger video memory like for example Radeon x1300 with 512MB Video memory.... :D

I don't know, that is just my theory... ;)

If worse comes to worst the Radeon x1950XT will not become available ever in my place  , which among the 2 videcard should I choose? will I go for the Geforce 7950GT (which they say is faster and more powerful than Radeon x1950Pro) or should I stick with Radeon x1950Pro 512MB (which they say offers better image quality but less powerful than the Geforce 7950GT), Please help me choose, I think I got a bit lost here...

If it were my choice, I would get the X1950Pro, becuase of the better image quality, 80nm, less heat and power. But then again, I don't have to get 100 FPS in all games, I'm good with setting my games on vsync and getting a constant 60... It all really comes down to opinion. I think the 1950Pro might be a little easier on your system, because you only have a 500watt power supply...

Maybe also look at:

Sapphire Radeon X1900 GT 256MB DDR3

MSI Radeon RX1950 Pro 256MB DDR3
Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB DDR3

Hhhhmmm Ok as of now my order of preference would be...

1. Radeon x1950 Pro 512MB
2. Geforce 7950GT
3. *** Radeon x1950 XT (256MB)

how about the x1900 XT (256MB)? I think we have x1900XT (256MB) [Gecube x1900XT 256MB] but not x1950XT, do you guys think its a good choice to get a x1900XT over x1950XT?

*** - could have been no. 1 if available... :)

Hhhhmmm radeon x1950 pro is indeed good considering its newer than geforce 7950GT, hhhmmm and of course utilizing the 80nm GPU which indeed shrinks the power requirement of the chip, and in some reviews it is usually cooler than 7950GT... hhhhmmm ok ok thanks... I would consider power/temperature issues because, I live in a temperate place, wherein we always experience temperature around 32 - 36 degrees centigrade during the daytime and around 24 - 30 degrees during night; and of course electricity is a bit expensive here...

Anyway thanks guys... ;)

But talking about power, isn't it 7950GT is way comparable to 1950Pro? (based on some reviews...)???? ~203watts as to ~206watts respectively?

Most reviews I have seen rate the 1950 pro below the 7950GT (around 10-20% less FPS, depending on the game), add to that the 7950GT can overclock to GTX speeds and the 1950 pro is not a great overclocker. The 1950Pro is generally a bit cheaper on the flip side.

The X1900XT 256MB is better than both the 7950GT and the X1950Pro. It has less RAM, but it's a faster card and also supports high-quality anisotropic filtering and HDR+AA.

Wow! Nice radeon x1950Pro variant, i wish it comes with a 512MB as well, problem is Sapphire brand is kindda weak in my place, not because Sapphire sucks, but because of our local distributor for Sapphire suck ass!, I know Sapphire is producing attractive products, but the distributor fails to make those products available for the public(shame! shame!)... Talking about local distributors, I have been going around looking for each and everyone in my country, and I found out that the Powercolor x1950 XT is already available, I hope it will be available in our local retail stores by January... :(

Current Order of Preference:

1. Radeon x1950 XT (Powercolor, or any brand that will become available, that is Cheap but good performer!!!)
2. Geforce 7950GT or Radeon x1950 Pro (I think both deserves to be 2nd.) :D

Is this Feasible? Considering my 450-500Watts PSU and very Hot! environment...

...

I would say the X1950XT followed by X1950 Pro then 7950GT. However, all are pretty darn close so whichever you get, you wont be disappointed. Your environment should not impact any of these cards too much, and the PSU should be fine.

I really wanted to comment - it's nice to see someone who really put some work into looking at options before asking about them. Seems to me that you spent a pretty decent amount of effort trying to understand what you can about the cards offered, and that is something that very few people do. *applauds* And no, Im not being sarcastic. :)

For the third(I think) time, the X1900XT 256MB is a better card than any variant of the X1950Pro or 7950GT, regardless of how much RAM the cards have. If you can't get an X1950XT, the X1900XT 256MB is the next best choice.

@FigtherAce124:

Thank you very much for the complement, my real reason for asking, as many opinions as possible, is because, one cannot really decide on their own, regarding which one's (videocard technology) is better, for that certain situation like price range, type of games played, current system configuration, etc., especially people like myself who just base their Options on reviews, technical notes, benchies, etc.; I know, without a doubt that both ATI and NVidia are EXCELLENT videocard card makers, which adds to the problem for consumers to wisely choose. :)

@All:

Thanks very much guys for participating in my mini quest in choosing among the 3 videocard; So I think this thread is unanimous for Radeon X1950 XT, at least now I know, that we the common public conforms with the reviewers choice... ;)

I also agree that all these 3 videocards are really really excellent cards... (that is the reason why it really gave me a hard time to decide which among them to choose/purchase at this point in time.) :D

Thanks much and Merry Christmas y Prospero Anyo Nuevo to each and everyone...!!! :D
