I can see that Sapphire has the X1950XT listed on their site, however i cant seem to find any online. I was wondering whether this card is for sale yet or when is it planned to be for sale. I need to find a good replacement for my dead 7900GTO.

If you look at the images there you can see "X1950 XT" clearly labeled on the packaging as well, so not likely to be a typo. From the specs it has faster RAM than the X1900XT and built-in crossfire support, as well as HDCP support according to the HDCP thread in this forum. Weird that there hasn't been a preview/review of it anywhere, and it's not available for purchase either. Did they just jump the gun on the product page?
 
I spoke on the phone with a guy from Sapphire and he didnt even know they had an X1950XT, I had to point him to his website. He also said it should be out by mid-nov...shame.

Radeon X1950 Xt 256MB DDR2?? Why in the heck does this thing have DDR2? It isn't even listed on the general Asus page.

The true X1950XT will have 256 megs of DDR3 ram clocked at 900mhz. The core will be 650mhz i think.

I am hoping they have a 512MB version. Sadly it looks like this will be a 90nm part instead of 80nm, like the 1950 Pro.
 
An X1950 XTX is just an X1900 XTX with GDDR4 slapped on it (and a die shrink), yet it shows huge performance increases. It seems clear that the X1K series was seriously starved for memory bandwidth.

If this becomes widely available, it seems like as much of a steal as the 7900 GTO was. Near-X1950 XTX performance for $270.

Anyways, too late for me. My card was back-ordered and is ready to be shipped out the 16th. If my X1950 isnt shipped by the 16th and they have a 8800GTS in stock, ima snag that instead.
 
this card looks pretty sweet, but i agree on the x1950xtx cooler being absent

oh well

i bet this drops another 30-60$ in 2weeks

Wait, wait... there isn't an X1950 Pro/XTX cooler on this new XT? I hope that isn't true at all, its one of the reasons I wanted this card...

Now I'll probably just plop down $100 more for the XTX. It'll be my last upgrade for a bit, and I care little about DX10 anyways - I could argue about that all day, ugh...
 
Sapphire's site specs used to say GDDR4, but it has been changed to GDDR3. I take this to mean that they made a mistake and ewiz looked at the mistaken specs.
 
If it's running at 1.8 GHz, it doesn't really matter whether it's GDDR3 or 4, does it? It's not like GDDR4 contains magic performance enhancing pixie dust. In fact, at the same speed GDDR3 is likely to be faster, as it has tighter timings.
 
I grabbed one of these the other day (250 euros, sweet price)

This is how it performs for me





The lack of memory (ie 256mb vs 512mb) seems to make bugger all difference in games (running DoD:S @ 1920x1200 with 2xAD Perf AA/8xHQAF runs consistantly over 60fps)

I have also OC'd it to 670/1900 (up from 625/1800), stable.

so for 250, great value.

I also had a 7900GTO and it ran worse, lots of stuttering so go figure.

Totally recommended.
 
The cooler looks the same as the stock cooler on the X1900XT, which frankly wasn't that great. How's the noise and heat from it? While the performance looks great, I'd prefer to keeping things quiet and cool.
 
Its frustrating because every site I have looked at either has the wrong model number or the right model number and the wrong specs :confused:

As far as I can tell, Newegg has the right specs and the right product for a very competitive price.

I initially thought this card was suppose to be DDR4 with the new cooler hence the 1950 in the model#, I have looked it up on several sites - some sites have the card coming with 512 MB of DDR3 some with 256MB. Also is this card on the Ati website? I looked before and it wasn't there.

Anyways, I wanted to get this card but I think I'm going to wait for something better and cheaper down the line.

No, it was never supposed to be GDDR4. It's an overclocked X1900XT. Check every web site (Sapphire, ASUS, HIS, Powercolor, etc.). They all list it as GDDR3. There are a few sites that have it wrong. There is also confusion from typos on retailers that are listing the X1900XT 512M as the X1950XT. It happens with the ASUS version, so check that.

The "1950" doesn't mean that much. The X1950 Pro uses GDDR3. It's just a marketing gimmic.

No, it's not on the ATI site, which is unfortunate. Right now, it's looking like the ATI version of the 7900 GTO. Sure, next year, there's probably going to be very good offerings with 8600s or whatever the mainstream version of the 8000 series.
 
Anyone with X1900/X1950 having issues with BF2? I re-formatted and re-intalled BF2 and whenever i turn on CatAI and ADAA i lose all AA. This only happens in BF2 for some god forsaken reason. I played Prey...worked fine, i played COD2...worked fine. But for some unknown reason I'm having a lot of trouble with BF2. It doesn't like to be patched either. I get errors while patching and stuff too.

So is anyone else having the same issues?
