Would an x1950xt 256mb for $180 be a worth while upgrade from the 7800gt seeing as my max rez is 1280x1024 and I probably won't upgrade my monitor this year... though it may happen. I made a post similar to this a cpl months ago, before the 8800gts 320mb was out. Just seeing if opinions have changed.

Thanks again,

well if ur gonna go with the 256mb version id say and go with the 320mb GTS. on the other hand, if it came down to between the 512mb X1950 XT and the 320 GTS, get the ATI card.

Comparing those two cards, just raw spec numbers, check out At A Glance:

For $180 you'll get quite a bit of a boost, although I think you'll be more CPU limited playing at the lower resolutions, anyways. I have the X1950 XT myself and I am not unhappy with its performance and reliability. Be warned that it is loud, though. I disabled ATI Hotkey Poller simply because I found the cooling too loud in 3D mode and so I keep it at the much quieter 2D mode all the time.
