I'd like to get the best card I can for under $200. Under $150 is even better. If I got a card for less than $150 then I'd use the money saved (vs if I bought a $300 8800GT) to buy a card that's even better than the 8800GT sometime mid 2008 or so, maybe.

I'd like to be able to play Quake 3 at 1650x1080 with 4x or 8x AA and have it never dip below 60FPS. I'd also like to play other recent games (other than Crysis) at similar settings, but above 30FPS and just 2x AA would be ok for those. Games such as: UT3, COD4, Assasin's Creed (coming out next year for PC?), and a bunch of older games, maybe GRAW, Oblivion, etc...

Quake 3? Wow, that's a pretty old game, any modern card will be able to get you 1650x1080 with 4x or 8x AA and have it never dip below 60FPS including an x1950. A 3850 will give you about 33-40% more performance than an x1950. An x1950 might be a little choppy in UT3 and it is choppy in my Oblivion game (but I have a lot of heavy mods and far distance addons and texture packs). COD4 will be smooth as butter. Still, from somebody who just sold his x1950 (for $82), go for the 3850.
 
My X1950GT plays UT3 fine (at 12x10). I'm waiting on my HD3850/512MB and 2x1GB more RAM to hopefully rid my days of the damn "Out of Memory" in both UT3 & HG:L.
