I've been looking but can find any information on the memory overclocking problems on the x1950 gt cards (i.e. you can't overclock the memory, just the core).

Is there a new bios or anything to be able to overclock the memory on those cards?

Thanks!

I read that ATI Tool could do it on a tweak town review. I'll have to try it out tonight when I install my own x1950gt.

quick update: tried ati tool, no go :/

I figured that there would be a fix by now, but nope. Nothing. Nada.

was it not fixable when using "driver level overclocking" in ATT?

I did not try driver level overclocking. I had read somewhere that driver level overclocking didn't actually affect the memory frequency of the hardware, so I didn't try it. Perhaps I will give it a whirl tonight.

It is important to note that when overclocking, the default overclocking method is low-level. This is the setting you will find on other applications such as Riva Tuner by default. However, with ATI cards, specifically low-end models’ overclocking the memory is a tricky ordeal. You cannot use low-level overclocking on the memory, it will simply not overclock, even by 1 MHz. Thankfully ATI Tray Tools lets you select driver level overclocking. In driver level mode the memory can be overclocked without problems.

this is from the [H] Asus 1950pro review

I tried driver level overclocking and was fairly please with the results. At stock speeds(500/600) I scored a 8649 in 3dmark 05. At 641/708 I scored a 9914. I tried like crazy to crack 10k but couldn't. Although I did not see any visual artifacts, higher memory speeds would cause a lockup, except for two times where the score went down despite faster memory speeds(720 and 725).

Thanks for the info!
