X1900XTX+ViewSonic=Blank Screen

I have bought a new computer with CRT viewsonic screen and have problem with screen goes into power-save-mode after winxp logotype is displayed.

My computer specification:
- EPoX EP-9NPA+ Ultra, nForce4 Ultra,ATX Socket-939,S-ATA,GbLAN,Firewire,PCI-Ex16
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
- Corsair 2048MB
- Maxtor SATA 200gb hd
- EYE-T EX-550-PFC (550W) Power Supply
- HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
- ViewSonic CRT 19" E92f+ screen

I installed a clean winxp proff eng version, nvidia motherboard drivers from included cd-rom, done windowsupdate,
all High-Priority Updates and MS .NET framework 1.1.

My problems begins when I install graphic card drivers and do a restart. Tried HIS ati graphic drivers from included cd-rom with graphic card, latest
drivers from www.ati.com, latest drivers from www.hisdigital.com and even ati drivers from windowsupdate. I install all in the same way, complett installation/drivers only, restart, bios information appears, screen goes into power-save-mode few sec after winxp logotype with green progress bar, I have to restart into VGA safe-mode, run "cat-uninstaller.exe", a utility from ati.com to realy uninstall all ati software, restart, finds new hardware, prompt to install new drivers but same thing. In safe-mode and VGA safe-mode, I have changed resolution to 800x600@60Hz. Tried uninstalled all nvidia drivers and installed updated one from www.nvidia.com, www.epox-europe.com, and even bios default with same results. Tried with both DVI to VGA adapters included with graphic card.

Anyone have any solution or recommendations ?

Did your monitor actually come with drivers? Mine did, and installing them helped solve a few minor problems.

Coder: I dont have an extra graphic card ... so I borrowed one temp. yesterday from a friend, a ati x850, and it worked without problem after installed drivers from anyone and restart. Funny part is we tried with another screen, philips LCD "17, and it worked with my X1900. Now I think its something with combination of ViewSonic and X1900XTX. but I dont know how to solve it...

Coder: yes it does, dont make any diff if I install monitor, so it says E92f+ in device manager, and restart, screen goes into power-saving-mode.

Tried forcing into VGA mode during bootup?
And does this also happen in failsafe mode?

Check the ViewSonic website for drivers for your monitor. It looks like you may be running the video at a refresh rate not supported by the monitor. Without the proper drivers you may not be able to identify the appropriate hz rating for that monitor.

I had this same issue with a Dell 1900FP and a Radeon 9800 pro using VGA connector. Once I got the video resolution set to 60hz I was albel to boot normally and find all the hz rating appropriate for that monitor. I did have to go the Dell to get the correct drivers for the monitor to use 75hz.

That monitor is new enough that it should be DDC/CI compliant, which means the INF file (monitors don't actually have drivers) shouldn't be necessary. Also, in the event that Windows is unable to identify a monitor, it usually falls back to a default VGA mode of like 640x480 @ 60Hz.

Also, if you previously had an NV card in your system, you may want to consider using something like Driver Cleaner to remove all traces of that driver.

Leave the drivers installed, after the blank screen boot, reboot and go back into vga mode or safe mode and set the resolution to 1024x768 at 60 Hz and reboot again.

From there you will be able to go into windows and set the resolution to something the monitor can handle.
