X1900XTX Pro? full spec here

This is a different type of launch for Ati. No secrets. Guess they see this as a smallish refresh product. Lets hope they deliver on availability.
 
So there will be an X1900XTX, X1900XT, X1900XTX Pro, and likely a plain 'ol X1900. Nope, nothing confusing abut that. :rolleyes:
 
I knew there would be a XTX, XT and AIW versions but this Pro one is something new to me. Maybe ati decided to release a plain ol' X1900 and are using the 'Pro' naming scheme.
 
This is a stuff up. If you look properly it says X1900XTX Pro, while still claiming 48 shader units. A Pro would have disabled shaders (probable 32/36 effective) and no more than 256meg RAM. This is just an XTX, which the company thinks is a "professional" graphics card.

EDIT: Nevermind, It just looks big for some reason.
 
video cards now a days are getting wayyyyy out of control and programmers running crappy code forcing us to upgrade our video cards too much :mad:

Why do you say that?

It would not be called an XTX if it had reduced shaders. The XTX Pro may equal the XT PE of the older series? Maybe there is an X1900 Pro as well?

I couldn't see a reduced performance model for $650 but thats just me.

Unfortunately, we can no longer make those comparisons. I mean, the X850XTPE has a higher fillrate and memory bandwidth than the X1800XL and yet it gets stomped by the X1800XL in the vast majority of benchmarks. So it's obvious that the fillrate and bandwidth probably won't represent the actual performance of the X1900 series (also, taking into account that the R580 is using a new kind of un-specialized ALU architecture, the standard comparison using fillrate gets even more distorted).

Looks like the only direct way we have to compare video cards now days is to look at gaming benchmarks.

which is really what matters anyway right? Hell, I'd rather make a decision on how well a card performs in the games I play than looking at a spreadsheet of "theoretical max bandwidth" numbers. I look at enough crappy spreadsheets at work, I wanna see eye candy when I get home ;)
 
XTX Is the new top-end nomenclature from ATI, whereas Pro has mean't (at least after 9800XT) a slightly reduced performance high end product. Thus ATI will not be combining the term XTX and Pro into one product. Comprende?
 
Yes, they wouldn't be mixing. If there was a Pro it would be X1900 Pro. However, a bit off-topic here but, I like Platinum Edition. Had a nice ring to it and sounded prestigious. I loved saying "I have an X850XT Platinum Edition." I know, I know, what's in a name. I'm just saying I liked it is all.
 
JR has the card listed for $650!
Does anyone know the MSRP?
Is ATI feeling justified after the 7800 GTX 512 pricing or is JR just making a little extra money on the card?
