X1900XTX Information Centre

Hey all,

I recieved my X1900XTX today, Sapphire brand. Upon entering the Catalyst Control Centre options, when i look at the hardware information centre, the core clock speed is reported to be 500Mhz, and the Memory speed 594Mhz. According to the specs on ATI website the core speed should be 650Mhz, Memory 1.55Ghz.

The display adapter does show up as "X1900 Series" but there is no way i can find out whether it's an XTX edition or not.

Is the CCC information bugged? Or could i have possibly recieved the wrong card? (The box it came in also says X1900-XTX on the cover too.)

Dont worry, those are the 2D clock speeds. The card will automatically change the clock speeds when you launch a 3D application.
 
^^^ what he said. I don't use CCC, so i'm not 100% sure, but the memory clock it gives you is the real clock. The clock on ATi's site is the effective clock. Since its GDDR3 memory (Graphical Double data Rate 3) The effective clock will be double the real.
 
Those are just 2D Clocks. Starting with the new generation of ATI cards, to consumer power and heat, they run in a 2D voltage and clock speed, and upon entering 3D, they ramp up to full clock speeds etc... voltage....

That sucks. Will make it much harder to Vmod won't it? Are the days of soldering VR's behind us?

Not true. You can hardware mod and bump volts over the amount called for by the drivers.

no need to vmod, you can controll the voltages via ATI tool

But the card is already so damn hot you'd have to have some extensive cooling to consider bumping the voltage
 
Well, you shouldn't be doing any volt modding unless you're on water or better IMO. Plus we're not so sure how stable those software volts are.
 
The card's voltage ranges are enough to cover everything but the most extreme cooling. So no hard mods are needed any longer.

Which is a GOOD thing, after all how many were competent to make the old mod's in the first place.

A much broader range of users will be able to mod/OC the cards now.

Yep thats a fact . Same thing happened in dirt track racing Carl Zanger came out with a good kit car . All of the sudden a complete moron could compete . What took years to learn was flushed down the toilet.
