X1900XTX Crossfire Question....

Two X1900XTX's paired together will NOT make crossfire, Correct? Or are the XTX's 'special' like the X1300 and X1600's that they don't need a master card.

I do know that the X1900 and X1900XT do need to be paired with a Crossfire Edition.

Must pair the X1900XTX with a X1900 Crossfire Edition card to be able to activate Crossfire, Correct?


Reason I ask, I've seen people say they are running crossfire with two XTX's. I just want to know if they are full of crap or not.

you need a mastercard. and the 1900xtx's clockspeeds will be reduced to match that of the slower mastercard.
 
yeah you do need a CF edition card to be able to use 2x1900xt/x together. I have no idea if it's still the case or not but when the x1900xtx's came out they would power down to the clock speeds of the x1900xt when you used crossfire.
 
Maybe the Master card is flashed to XTX specs ? I was debating on doing this but am not sure if it will still be a "Master" card after a reflash. I reflashed my XT to an XTX.
 
Yes, the XTX's will not down clock.

Now I have read that you can Crossfire a 1950XTX with a X1900 Xfire edition card, but has anyone heard whether you can do the reverse? But a 1950XTX Xfire edition card and match it with a X1900XT?
 
You need:

Crossfire Compatible Mobo
Crossfire edition x1900
Regular x1900xt or x1900xtx
Enable Crossfire In the drivers

Incorrect, each video card maintains their respective clock speeds.
 
What about a 1950xtx crossfire, and a vanilla 1900xtx? Will they cohabitate at all?

I just placed and order through Newegg.com for an ASUS EAX X1900 Crossfire Edition card.

I hope when I pair it with my already exsisting X1900XTX that I will see noticable bump in graphical imaging.



I'm also curious if the new Folding@Home client that will now utilize the X1900 GPU will utilize BOTH X1900 gpu chips for those that are running Crossfire.

I plan on installing and running Folding@Home once my X1900 CF Ed. comes in and I install it and load up the Cat 6.10's.
