X1900XTX corrupts windows???

I just got a X1900XTX, installed CAT 6.7s and ran some tests: 3dmark06, Prey, HL2:Lost Coast, and they all worked remarkably well. But later i was playing the Company of Heroes Beta (at this point having ran the card for about 2hrs), and suddenly it crashes, saying "display driver was not responding". I had to restart, but upon restarting i found out I couldn't login to windows anymore! I get a bunch of error messages after the windows loading screen, saying stuff like "DLL cannot be found"...

Did my X1900XTX CORRUPT WINDOWS??? :( I need advice here, do you think it was the display drivers that did it, or something related to the hardware? It's hard to believe that they'd have access/ be able to mess up windows system files. another compounding factor is that company of heroes is a beta, but i dunno how much that matters. Also it was a hot day, would the card overheating do something like that?

My system:
A64 X2 3800+ @ 2.4ghz
ASUS A8N-E
4x 1gig OCZ ddr400
X1900XTX 512mb cat. 6.7
2x 36.7gig raptors
HIPER 580W PSU

any help would be appreciated...

Try booting into VGA mode.
 
doesn't seem to work. i also tried safe mode. its the same errors. it seems like a bunch of the system .dlls just went poof

im less concerned about windows, as i can always reinstall it, (and all my data is safe)
i'm more interested in finding out what caused it - the card itself? the driver???
 
It is highly unlikely that your 1900 did that.

It could simply be a coincidence and some other hardware is acting up. Make sure your HD is working properly. Furthermore, that type of corruption can also be caused by memory (RAM) faillure.

Finally, are you sure you are virus free? Can it be caused by a malicious program?

There are cases where devices such as sound cards (SoundBlaster especially) and video cards caused some corruptions. It was mainly due to bad software (IRQ sharing issues...).

Do some tests with and without your video card to confirm.
 
If you're using a Scythe Ninja, it could of got angry and went inside your system and started throwing ninja stars at your DLL's.
 
Before the X1900XTX i was using a X800XL, and everything ran fine. I do 3d modeling/rendering in maya, and have left it rendering for 48hrs+ with no stability problems. so i doubt the ram or hdd are at fault. the only new piece of hardware is the x1900xtx. lets just say that company of heroes isn't the most stable game - even with the old card it would crash occassionally, but i've never had it permanently crash windows before. just a coincidence?? its hard to believe. if it were IRQ issues i have no idea how to check that. malicious program?...i guess it could be but i have no way of knowing for sure...

the most important issue right now is finding out if the problem is hardware based or software based. since if its a hardware problem im going to have to return the product. im definitely leaning towards software, but im not an expert or anything...

and definitely not because of ninja stars - my windows was patched to be ninja proof

Run this for a few days.
If no errors are detected then it would be safe to say its software issue *could be hdd thogh.*
There is a verry little chance that the video card is causeing this *Don't quote me but
I think it was a 0.5% chance*
