I've OCed my X1900XT to 680/750 which is almost XTX spec. What's the point of flashing the BIOS too?

there reaolly isnt one, why do it? why not do it?
after I first got mione I thought that I would flash it just for the sake of doing it but there are other factors involved (voltage, ram speeds) that I thought best left alone.
really you have got a screaming fast card there, why risk eF'n it up? just OC it, its not like the XTX has added features to improve performance.

you will only benefit if you are planning to run the card at stock speeds after flashing ,

or you just want to be cool and do it just because you can ,

i did not see anything that would indicate that the flash will loosen the memory timings ,

so id have to say no to that one ,

if you will run the card at max overclocks while gaming there really is no benefit in flashing to xtx bios

So why did you flash yours?

I flashed mine, and it gave me graphic corruptions, however it oc's manaully fine.

i just did it because i could ,

early x1900 cards were exactly the same cards with different bios on it ,

so why not make my x1900xt into xtx for free?

I just want to know if there is any benefit to doing the flash. I'm already running around XTX speeds.

One benefit would be, you dont have to worry about overclocking to get XTX speeds. It would be set.

Another would be, does Crossfire allow you to overclock both cards at once? Or is it just the primary? Im about to go down that road, and am looking into flashing for that reason. Running both at XTX speeds would be nice.

That would be the only benefit in my mind.

I did the XT to XTX flash and i'm now having trouble with artifacting under heavy load, I wouldn't do it.

What brand is your card? If it is a ATI brand card would you mind backing up the bios and sending it to me? I lost my backup due to a hard drive crash.

I just, as in 10 mins ago, bought a Sapphire X1900XT from NCIX.com
The XTX's 65 Mhz and 10 Mhz doesn't seem like much of a difference at all over the XT.
I am glad I got the XT, I should be able to OC this bad boy way past the XTX default.

just use the O/Cer in the CCC. Thats what I am using on my X1800XT. But get a new cooler. To the person who flashed your are overheating.
