x1900xt vs 7900gt

Could someone point me to some game benchies that include these two cards with newer drivers?

I've been googling and have been able to find one.

You'll usually not find reviews updated with newer drives because there's usually no need. I'm not sure an improved driver is going to bridge the gap from the 7900GT to an x1900XT.

The only thing I can think of doing is to look for recent reviews of either card, that might get new enough drivers, but rarely the absolute latest.

I had been toying with the idea of upgrading my x1800XL to a 7900GT, but with Newegg having an Sapphire XT for $355 (w/a $30 MIR), I might skip it.

Doesn't necessarily need to be brand spanking new drivers.

Just want to get an idea of how much better an x1900xt is vs a 7900gt.

I'll keep digging.

I will tell you that the x1900xt is alot better than the 7900 GT. The x1900xt has 512mb and performed better than my 7900 GT SLI. The 7900 GT SLI got way better 3dmarks but in actual gaming, the x1900xt was alot smoother. I know this from my own experience.

That's kind of what I figured.

Now that my 7900GT KO I recently received via RMA appears to be shot, I'm definitely switching to ATI.

I know I'll get a boost using AA and AF with an X1800XT but I'm really considering the X1900XT so that I won't need to upgrade for longer.

Was just curious what kind of a boost it would be vs. my 7900GT.

X1900XT is easily the most impressive card I have ever had. Jump in performance over my previous card (6800GT) was simply ridiculous.

Thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for.

It's amazing how badly the X1900XT spanks the 7900GT once you start cranking the res and AA/AF.

the x1900xt and 7900GT are in totaly different price brackets, u shouldn't even compare them
maybe a 256M X1800XT to a 7900GT

The X1800XT is a little cheaper than a 7900GT and it, too, beats out the 7900GT at high res (1280x1024+) and AA/AF.

Granted, not as badly as the X1900XT, but it's substantial enough.

Right now, the X1900XT can even be had for $333 AR so it's approaching the 7900GT OC price bracket, hence the comparison.

I see an EVGA 7900GT CO for 269

7900GT KO for $264

333-269 = $64bux!

Didn't say they were in the same bracket yet.

However, I would spend the extra for the X1900XT.

I would too, but saying that its even approaching the same bracket is silly a $50 or more difference changes the bracket ^^! but the X1900XT is worth the $50 extra so if you're willing to spend it go for it

I think you're arguing just for the sake of arguing.

My point was the X1900XT's price has been declining and is in the process of approaching the price bracket of the 7900GT -- in other words, the price of the X1900XT is falling faster than the 7900GT OC. Since the gap between the two cards is shrinking, the X1900XT would be APPROACHING the 7900GT OCs price bracket.

They are not in the same price bracket and even if the difference was only $50 they would still likely be seen as difference brackets, but they would closer than they are today at $60+, hence the word "approaching" -- not there yet, but getting closer.

well either way, you made a good point in saying the x1900xt is worth the $64 dollars more then the 7900GT

I just bought the saphire one and it will be here monday... didn't want to upgrade but after my evga 6800GT took a dump on me and no help from evga i was left with no choice. Though from all the reviews i should be extremely happy with this card.

Mine just arrived in the mail today and she is a bad ass.

COD2 at 1280x1024 with 4xAdaptive AA, 16xHigh quality AF and it runs smooth as silk.

Went from a 7800GT to a 1900XT

IQ was sooo much better on the 1900XT

Only paid $369 for the Asus 1900XT, came with king kong...eh not to bad

Ok, $60 is about the price of one game anymore, I would pay the diff, bracket schmacket, Nvidia needs to lower their prices some.

X1900 XT doesn't really compete with the 7900 GT, its in limbo between 7900 GT and 7900 GTX

Went from a 7800 gt to a 1900 xt today and playing games at a higher res has been smoother. :) So I would pay the extra 60 bucks or so..its worth it :D
