x1900 gt

Hmmm 256MB of memory? I thought ATI said they were releasing a 512MB version of the X1800XL. I can see them changing the name to the X1900GT but why the decrease in memory?

its the same core on the rest of the X1900's so no its not an X1800XL with a changed name, its pretty much an X1900 with a disabled quad and drastically lowered clocks

Hmm...I bet the 36 shaders instead of 48 barely dent the performance at all..since by all benchmarks the X1900XTX is not using all it's 48 shaders in current games.

However the core clock and memory downgrades will hurt it.

I believe this was a typo in a product list at ONE site. Then the site started whining about the "unavailability" of the non-existant typo product a short while later, making it even worse. Typical of how ATI gets treated by the media these days.

AFAIK it doesn't exist and never did. And if you think about it it makes absolutely no sense from a product standpoint anyway, either from a price perspective, or the fact the X1800's are being discontinued.
