I have a x1900xtx which has been an great card. Since I also have a crossfire motherboard i'm wondering if you think it's worth it to get the x1900 crossfire card to go with. These are difficult to find and quite expensive. Which makes me think it would be better to get a faster single card of something. I have also heard that I can use a x1950 crossfire controller card? Is this true? Or should I look for the x1900 controller card?

I'm not necessarily hurting for performance, just thought I should try to grab one while I still can.

i don't think you should invest in any kind of dongled crossfire at all. i was running x1900xt cf on a phenom ready board and found the newest drivers (at least 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3) don't run cf properly. the display skips around and blinks in and out like the lcd is attempting to refresh. it doesn't happen in 2d, only in 3d. there is a thread where a poster attempting to run x1950xtx cf experienced the same thing. this problem may only exist with cf configurations where the dongle is necessary.
