I just recent purchsed BBA x1800xt.

Via the control panel it shows that the gpu clock is at 594 (instead of 625) and mem clock at 1386 (instead of 1500).

I verified this through Lavalys Everest and it's showing the same information.

Anyone else getting this? and if so, is this the norm? or is there a issue with the card..

Also, its refusing to run half life 2. During the loading screen when you start a new game, it crashes and gives me a windows error.

Thanks.

When you load a 3D application (opengl or directx) it will boost up the clocks to the stock 625 core and 1500 mem. This is perfectly normal, and I have the same readings on my x1800xt. 2d clocks are different from 3d. Your card is fine and not defective.

I get 594 and 1386 exactly myself in 2d as well. If you want a sanity check, do clock logging using a program like rivatuner and you will see it boost up to 625 and 1500.

I am not sure what to tell you about your half-life2 error. I myself have had no problems at all playing that game or any of the source based games. I am using the 5.11 Cats because of the 5.12-5.13 artifacts in quake4. I can't speak for those two drivers in hl2, maybe someone else with your problem can chime in on the crash.

I hope besides hl2 you are enjoying your x1800xt as much as I am enjoying mine! :D

thanks alot for the response. I feel relieved about that part of it.
So it boosts up the clock by itself? with no sore of additional app?

I'm enjoying it, just that I'm having few issues with stability. Like hl2 not running, wow crashing my computer once in a while. etc...

anyone have ideas on the hl2 part of it?
I've tried reinstalling to no avail.

Thanks

I had the same problem, I do not remember what specifically corrected the problem was makeing sure I had all the right drivers, and it still crashes for me extremelly rarely, plus this is not a HL2 issue, I think this is a source issue since my CS:S was crashing.

Do you have the latest ATI drivers?

my X1800XT working fine for everything else now.

If your source problem is an error reading "STEAM validation rejected" this is a known issue on which they are currently working. I have the same problem with CS:S.
