X1800xt overclocking

What is a good but still very safe overclock on a x1800xt. I have a Arctic Cooling Accelero X2 installed on mine now.

I am using the beta version of ATI tool which automatically disables the ati process, so it can overclock the 3d clocks.

I don't really want to change the voltages either, just overclock enough to see a significant boost in preformance.
 
Get the Omega 6.5 drivers, install ATi tool, run the overclock test, and find out for yourself.

The only way to find out is to experiment. Waste a day or two on it. I wasted 4 on mine. But ended up getting the clocks to 729/800 on stock volts. If I up the gpu voltage a bit I can hit 760. But I have the stock cooler (that's been lapped...that alone dropped my load temps by almost 10c) so I'm just going to use stock voltage.
 
can the Omega Drivers be used on all ATI cards...800 on up? Cause i have a X800XL 256MB PCI-E and would like to OC it but i can seem to find a good driver the only one that seems to wrok right is 6.3 all others give me artifacting.

x800xl's weren't the greatest overclockers. That's what I had before the x1800xt. The ONLY thing that let me o/c from 400 core to 470 was the addition of an ATI Silencer with a lapping, AS Ceramique, and a volt mod. A lot of work for such a little gain. Most 800xl's averaged around 440-450 with the stock cooler. They do respond well to better cooling though.
 
Well the Proc heat is no longer a factor in the case since i am W/Cing it...the case Temp is around 29C but when i put load on the card with any of the new drivers the card is self will jump from 40C to 55C or higer...?

you should really start your own thread on this since it's basically hijacking the OP's. But to answer your question, you need to look at the cooling on the card itself. The x800xl is what's generating the heat and holding it back, not your CPU. Using the stock heatsink? If so, take off and check the thermal paste. could be dried out, either way, replace it (preferably with some AS) and re-mount the heatsink making sure it has good contact with the core. Any way you look at it, you won't o/c far at all on the stock heatsink. You also may just have a card that doesn't like to OC very well.

I meant hijacking his thread as in the focus being changed to you instead of the OP. No biggie to me, and you certainly don't have to go by my suggestion, I was just throwing that out there as an option since your issue *may* get more attention with it's own thread instead of nested within another.
