X1800XT overclocking = restart

I am running the following system.

Asus P5WD2-Premium
Intel 630 CPU (266x15) @4006Mhz cooled via Thermatake Blue Orb II 1.4675V 41C idle 65C load
OCZ Gold Series 2GB DDR2 667MHz 4-4-4-8
ATI Sapphire X1800xt 256MB w/Arctic Cooling Accelero X2
Black Lian Li 61case
Xclio 450BL 450watt PS
NEC-3550A Black Combo Drive ,SoundBlaster Audigy,
450GB total storage Maxtor sata (2 drives)

I am running the ram and video card at stock settings.
Once I overclock the video card to about 640\1460 And run 3dmark 2006 during the CPU test my computer crashed last night.

My question is how much is my video card pulling?
I have a quality Power Supply but since I'm overclocking to 4ghz and stressing my x1800XT I think I might be pulling too much when it is benchmarking and that’s why my computer restarts.

I thought I had a large enough power supply.
When I am overclocking my video card should I always leave the ram at stock speeds?

Also I did not turn up the voltage on the ati card except for 1 notch in ATI tool. In ATI tool my video screen dies at about 655/745 I thought was not that big an overclock for this card.

Any comments or help would be appreciated.
 
I cant tell you for sure, but I had restarts while playing games on my system a little while back.

It seems to be that I didnt give my CPU enough voltage and once i upped it by .10 volts, the restarts have stopped.

I dont know what is the norm voltage for your CPU and what it should be at with 4GHz, but I would guess try upping it again by .05 more and see if that helps.
 
I have gone as far as 1.48V in the bios. MY board overvolts so it would be running 1.56 idle in windows like that which is kind of high to me. Stock voltage is 1.32-1.40V
 
I dont think 450w quality or not is enough for your system. Try running the CPU at stock, then overclocking your video card. Run P95 also overnight if possible.

See if the system is stable then.
 
I have the same power supply in my second PC, running two hard drives and a X850XT just fine, I think your power supply is fine. But the P4 draws a hell alotta more power than what my Sempron draws though. The 450 could not be enough. Technically it should be if you're not running X1800/X1900 Crossfire.
 
I run an OCZ Powerstream 420 in my system in the sig. My x1800xt overclocks to 760/1600. 655/745 is normally nothing for these cards from what I've read. Always possible you got a bum card too.

If anything is fighting for power in your system...it would be the graphics card and the cpu. I figured the new Intel's would use less power but maybe not.
