Im right on the virge of buyin an x1800xt. I havent had a video card worth playing anything, and i finally have 460 dollars saved up, shouls i wait and see what the x1900 brings to the table, along with cost, or should i go for a 435 dollar x1800xt one of my brother's friends is selling?

Well its doubtful you will get a X1900XT for anything less than about 600 bucks when it is first released. So if you can scrounge up some extra cash, you might as well hold out a couple weeks to see what comes from it. Just my 2 cents.

Think about it for a minute. Your bro's friend has one and is selling it, to presumably buy a X1900XT variant when it comes out. If he's not happy (or just wants more power); will so will you?

I have a X1800XT and was all prepped to buy the Crossfire master for it. But I've changed my mind and will sell it as soon as the X1900XT is available.

trxjw is right, the X1900 will be a good bit more that a second hand X1800XT when it comes out. My advice is that if you can afford it and can wait a little longer for the X1900, then do so!

Although waiting is good, I think you'll end up getting a x1800xt.

Reason is price vs performance. I don't think you'll be seeing huge leaps in performance. This is afterall a refresh. And from all the pre-sales seeing online, it's not a massive leap in speed. I didn't buy an x850xt after owning an x800xtpe. Plus the x1800xt EASILY overclocks to 690mhz in it's own catayst drivers (safe sponsored by ati overdrive)

So wait...but I predict :D

pick up an x1800xl for cheap, maybe even a refrurb, im not sure, run it for a while, and see how well it suits me, then save for the next big thing, right now im res limited to 1280x1024 by my samsung lcd, so i will be good then its up to 1600x1080 screen next chance i get. The x1900 has me pretty excited though, so i may bite on thatb efore a new screen.

Been wondering myself later as to whether to buy an X1800XT or wait for the X1900XTX. I decided to get the X1800XT as it's available now and will be cheaper than the X1900XTX when that comes out (and also if ATI can maintain supply for the demand of the card). The performance gap between the two cards probably wont be that wide either.

I figure that this card will last me out the year and then I will either get an X1800XT Crossfire card or sell my X1800XT and see what the new DX10 cards will bring and get one of those instead.

Ordered mine today and should have it on Thursday:D

lol..yeh people here are giving good advice..just wait and see..a few more days wont kill u...

Which ever way you go, you're not going to lose out!

Definitly wait.

There will probably be something in your price range that is much faster soon. A X1900Pro or something.

Its only a couple days until the x1900 comes out, and hey, it might even lower the cost of the x1800 so you never know

The price of the X1800XT will reduce upon release of the X1900 cards, however the reduction I would imagine to be slight at most as I think the ATI cards will be priced alongside the GTX512's

Anyways, if we would always wait for the next big thing then we would all never buy anything computer related, as whatever we do buy will be 'dated' two months after we get it and the next 'big thing' is released that we must all have....

Hell, you can't take your money with you and the less money you have when you get old, the less money the kids will have to spend to ship you away to an old people's home when you start to lose it :D

wait IMO
i just sold my x1800xt cuz im waiting =p although it is an amazing card, ran all my games great(except B&W2)

Wait for the X1900XT. I think it will make HDR AA fp 16 more than slightly playable. Also I just know you'll want one when it comes out and instead of trying to sell the X1800 at a loss then you might as well wait now. :D
