X1800xt Agp??

I don't think any ATI reps post on this board but I believe that some ati employee once said that there may be some version of the x1800 card in agp

there may be versions of the x1600 in AGP, but they said there was no plans for the x1800 to be released in the AGP format

Why do so many people want new high end cards to be released for legacy ports? There's only a very select few AGP systems out their that can take advantage of a card such as an X1800XT. I can think of only two cases:

1) nForce3 users who got their systems before PCIE came around for AMD.
However, even owners who have nForce3 boards are mostly using low end S754 processors such as the A64 2800+ and 3000+ (which would also likely bottleneck an X1800 most of the time). This scenario would have to be limited to people who are running A64 3400+, and 3700+ or running a s939 nf3.
2)SocketA users who OC'ed their mobile bartons to 2.5-3Ghz. These people are even more sparse.

I seriously doubt that such a small market segment would warrant the effort that would go into developing an AGP X1800XT.

Yes, but it was all speculation, as is this, and its pretty much pointless. Its just like saying that the inquirer got some things correct, and then saying that that means that what they said had merit all along. When in reality, random speculation sometimes turns out correct, but that doesn't make it anything more than speculation.

We can debate about whether or not it would be a good thing (for ATi business-wise or for the gamers) for ATI to release AGP versions of their flagship cards, but that is it. No one knows what the plans are right now, or the people that do know are under NDAs. To say, i heard a guy on the other forum that said that they would be making blahblahblah is pointless because noone actually knows.

you don't need a nForce 3 motherboard or a Barton over 2.5GHz to take advantage of a supposed agp x1800xt.

Only reason i want an AGP version is to upgrade and get most i cna out of this comp. Something to hold me over till i can fully upgrade or feel its worth the cash.

An x1800xl isnt going to be a big enough jump from your current card to merit $400 anyways

DC does nothing for the A64, except in synthetic memory benchmarks. I just read an article a week or so ago where they pitted equally clocked S754 against S939 chips. The DC, in only some cases, got a boost of <= 2 fps. My S754 @ 2.56GHz is no slouch and would easily run with any S939 at the same clock speed in gaming. To say that I would be bottlenecked is absolutely untrue.

My system is AGP, Nforce 3 mobo and S939. I would love if they will release AGP.
