I searched and couldnt find anything. What the hell happened to this card? The only ones I see cost more than XT's.
 
Since the release of the x1800GTO and the x1900GT, I wouldn't be surprised if they were being phased out.
 
It was a good card (comparable to a 7800GT) but with a short life span.
Originally the X1800XL cards were XT cores that couldn't quite make the cut.
Same chip, they just run slower. The first batch even came with the same speed memory. And then only about 4 months later, the X1900s eclipsed all the R520 cards.

Any of the slower or defective R520 cores they had stockpiled were funneled into "value" class cards like the X1800GTO.
They could have kept selling the XL in between the XT and GTO, but it would have saturated their product lineup.
And by that point, there probably weren't many R520 cores with all 16 pipelines functioning that couldn't reach XT speeds.
So they would have to underclock XT cores to sell as XLs and it would cannibalize sales.

I'm perfectly content with mine. It will serve me until at least next summer, after the DX10 cards get a refresh or two.
But they are not worth whatever people are asking for brand new cards.
You can get a new oem 256mb XT for only $200 nowadays.
Same thing happens all the time. I bought a GF4ti4200 for 100 after MIR, and pricewatch resellers were still asking 100 for GF3ti500.

I got my XT the other day for $234 off of Newegg.

Yeah and if you don't mind open box they're only $200.
Great deal.
I paid almost double that for my XL.
Of course at the time, an XT was close to $600.
