Does anybody have a XL to see if the new series has the Shimmering problem. This person thought the it was worse then the reported 7800/6800 series issues.

Read here for what this XL owner found.

Quick summary for people before 'panic' sets in:

Seems to be only on WoW suggesting a possible driver issue
No video or images for reference

I think it could just be a driver problem...

Hmm...wish he could test it in Morrowind, thats the other game that gets it real bad.

WoW has ingame optimizations for AF i believe, on every card i played it on the game shimmers to hell and back

WoW is not a good game to test these cards on

Wow, that was a pretty good read on the other forum. They will probally fix all these issues with an update sooner or later. They do dish out drivers pretty fast as of recent. Will stay away from ATI for a little bit longer or until the matter is resolved. Sticking to nvidia, still no problems atm in any of the games I play. Well excpet for UT from time to time, but that game is dirt old anways lol XD.

Confused as to why this was moved. It is an ATI question and I posted in in the ATI forum.

UT is one of those games that has a good long life

It's hypocritical of people to think either card has perfect IQ. Their will never ever be a perfect video card with perfect drivers that plays every game perfect. That's why they keep releasing newer drivers and game patches.

Its a WoW issue. It shimmers with any card. A FX, 9800, doesnt matter.

I dont recall anyone saying any card has perfect IQ.

The simple fact is, the X1K has better image quality than the 7800 series. I know you dont like that, but you need to accept it.

After some more testing (with AI off) he changed his mind. ;)

GTX (78.03 HQ) similar to XL (Cat. 5.10a AI OFF),
XL (Cat. 5.10a AI OFF) better than GTX (81.85 HQ)
