What do you think this card will compare to when it is officially announced tomorrow? The specs sound pretty good. Only 12 pipes, but I think I can live with that. I am looking for a new card in the 200-250 range, and this one is just so appealing to me.

Pipes are everything anymore

OPINION and speculation: probably between a (nvidia camp) 6800gt sli

Yeah thats why I said, the pipes arnt a big deal. Plus im just looking for a card that will replace my X600 that is in the 200-250 range. I dont expect to get the best graphics out of every game I play. As long it is playable with decent frames im cool. Plus I play Source powered games, 75% of the time anyways. I know this card will run Source very good, with some AA and AF most likely. And its has Smart Shader 3 support, so it will be some what future proof.

i'm more excited about the x1600 right now then i am the x1800, if that card does better then the current x850pro then thats going to be my next purchase

of course it all comes down to the benchmarks, i bought the x800pro when it first came out, then when it died got an evga 6800gt ... well for some reason the 6800gt is freakin out on me now (major artifacts, and won't let me mess with the clocks at all, never OC'd it) so now i'm in the market for yet ANOTHER card with around the same performance and a bit of play room hopefully

Off topic, of course - but it sounds like you've got a bum PSU that's eating video card for breakfast!

you would think so?

the 6800 lasted very long, longer then i think it would take a bum psu to rip it to shreads with low/high voltage

but i am replacing it with a few upgrades i'm doing in a few months, so i'm not going to worry about that part of my psu for a bit
