I put together a portable machine for myself in an X-Qpack. I was using the power supply that came with the case, 'cause it's so small. Makes running the .5" ID tubing through the case alot easier. Is there a decent power supply that is smiliarly sized? My ASUS PC Probe software keeps setting off alarms for 12V being low in the middle of FEAR games. Haven't had any stability issues, yet, though. Specs Below:

ASUS A8N CSM mATX mobo
A64 4000+
7800GTX (256mb version)
2gb DDR
2x 74mb Raptor HDs
Laing DD5 water pump

Any suggestions?

No. There are no "decent" power supplies that are the size of the 420W Aspire that comes with the X-Qpack and the stock power supply is far from decent. In fact, on my load tester it did only about as good as a decent 300W and even then the voltages would scurry way out of acceptable range.

Since you have all of the parts in front of you, you're the best person to answer your own question. You have the optical drives installed, so now you know how much clearance you have between the back of your opticals and the back of the case. Take a ruler and measure the depth. Sure, a tiny ATX like the one that comes in there would be ideal, but I honestly couldn't tell you who makes one that small that's any good at all.

If you are using Lite-On/Sony opticals, then your drives don't exceed the depth of the frame Aspire gives you to mount the drives in. This means you can fit a power supply that is no more than 7" deep. Be careful, though. Although 180MM roughly translates to 7", a PSU that's 180MM deep doesn't fit.

I would suggest a power supply that's 6" deep, or 160MM. This will give you room to run your cables around.

Enermax Noisetaker 420W powers everything in my system rock stable.. I'd definately suggest it ^_^ And it's a bit shorter than normal PS's so it'll fit without any problems if you have a short lite-on drive!

True. At 5.5" that Noisetaker isn't very deep.
