Heya guys,

for those of you with a q-pack, would you mind doing me a favor? I'm trying to figure out whether or not I can fit a sunbeamtech nuuo power supply in a qpack. It's 158mm long, which is just shy of the modstream, but significantly longer than the 140mm standard depth. What I'd like to know is how much space there is from the back of the unit up to the edge of the 5.25" drive bay cage. I'm guessing it should be like 170-180mm.

I'm guessing it would be pretty tough to get the nuuo in with a standard dvd drive (even the liteons), so I may go for a slim drive with a 5.25" mounting bracket. Still, if I could get the nuuo and a liteon drive in that would be ideal. If nothing is going to work, I'll just get a liberty instead. :)

Thanks guys!

Hi MassiveOverkill,

I've read through that thread and basically any other thread regarding PSUs and the qpack that I could find. I have yet to discover one that answers my question (what the distance between the back of the case and the 5.25" drive cage is). If I happened to miss this I apologize.

The reason I want to know this, is because if the drive cage itself lines up with one of the modular connectors on the PSU, it may be impossible to use this PSU even with short molex connectors or a slim dvd drive. If there is enough clearance between the end of the PSU and the drive cage this may not be a problem.

I wasn't venting at you if that's what you thought. There are people using the Modstream and a shorty optical drive.

I measured it at 7-1/8", which is roughly 181mm from the back of the case to the 5-1/4" bay.

Heya MassiveOverkill,

No worries.

Thanks for measuring that for me! I think with 181mm, I should have enough clearance that even if one of the modular ports on the PSU lines up with the metal from the bay itself, I should still be able to connect the cable without having to modify the bay. I think I'm going to go ahead and order a nuuo. Wish me luck!
