I am on a tight budget, so I am digging pretty deep to create a system that will be close to $500. This computer will be used for multimedia, no gaming.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz HT Socket 939

ASUS A8N-VM CSM Socket 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6150

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM

You could pick up that $30 Forton mATX PSU, or try to scroungle up an Antec True for $30-40, you're going to want to spend the $40 to keep your system safe. I used my stock psu for about 2 months overclocked 500mhz, and I never had any problems, but I'm am an idiot. Check the FS/FT threads.
 
You should search the FS/FT threads for the 3200+, you could probably find them for cheap, I sold mine a few months ago for $120.

Where are you buying all this so I can see the prices/ specs?
 
Looks pretty good. All I can say is that you can get a 5 year warranty and better sata plug for $2 more...
 
Remember that this SFF case can use ATX PSU's. Don't know how that effects your build...

As for your motherboard - did you check MSI's ? I've seen that they have several, and, strangely enough, the one with firewire is CHEAPER than the one WITHOUT. As for cost I am in a bit of a rush so I cannot check the price.

Everything else looks good.
 
Yeah, I will probably end up getting a Liberty or Truepower down the road. I picked the Asus because of the Geforce 6150 and my lack of money for a dedicated video card.
 
Well for my first build it was surprisingly simple. I have been running XP Media Center easily, but I had problems with constant 100% CPU in XP Pro. I will post pictures once I do some cord management.

make sure all your drivers are up to date and use something like adaware to make sure you don't have some spyware crap running in the background. other than that congratulations on your first build.
 
Haha I am not that big of a noob. I have Ad-Aware Pro and AVG running strong. This is on Windows Media Center though, I didn't recognize the problem in XP Pro so I just started fresh and it worked.
