I read the impressive Creative X-Fi reviews, and I was impressed by the quality offered, currently I have Audigy2 zs and before I upgrade to X-Fi I want to know some facts which were not mentioned in the reviews. We know that A2zs is capable of realtime processing from any source (wave, Mic, Line in, optical, . . .), I am wondering wether if I connect Playstation2 console (or the upcoming PS3 with DTS format ) via optical to the platinum drive, will the X-Fi card decode the audio format from outer sources into multichannel surround with enabling:
24-bit Crystallizer and CMSS 3D into Xtreme Fidelity?
 
given how few people have this card, why not just wait a while.

Or better yet, run down to bestbuy and pick one up for yourself. If it doesn't work, that why bestbuy has a return policy.
 
Wait so let me get this strait. You want to use an optical input on your PS2 to plug into the X-FI and output again to a pair of speakers??

If you are trying to do that it SHOULD work! This is what the onboard decoder on the X-FI was meant for.

PS. The X-FI is worlds different than the Audigy2 :D

I would try it with my brothers ps2, but I do not have an optical cable.

Like I said it shoud work.

The owners of X-Fi Platinum with optical-in connector, Please can anyone tell are X-fi's 24-bit crystallizer and CMSS-3D capable of real time processing from external sources ??

ok, I have the xtreme music X-FI(the low end non-platinum) and a PS2, but I don't think I can help since it doesn't have an optical port, unless someone can correct me. I've got the Logitech z-680s too which has an optical port, but I just have the speakers hooked up with the optical directly into the PS2

I'd like to help but I'm slightly confused.
 
Yeah didn't think so. I'm guessing there's no cable with optical on one end and 1/8" on the other lol. I can only imagine the quality loss on that one.

it is also possible for the optical-in,
