x-fi titanium and ps3

Hey guys I just got a PS3 for Christmas and I'm loving it so far. Anyways I have the PS3 connected to my monitor using an hdmi cable. The video is looking very nice and the sound isn't all that great, but not bad either since its using the monitors built-in speakers. Well being a pc gamer all these years and using my sennheizer heaphones I'd like to know if there is a way I could have my sound going to my headphones instead of the speakers?

I have a soundblaster X-fi titanium sound card that has both input and output optical plugs. If I buy an optical cable and connected it from the PS3 output to the sound card's input, will I be able to hear ingame sounds, music, movies through my heaphones? Forgot to mention the headphones are already connected to the soundcard through its headphone input on the back. Thanks.

yep, you've got it right, you could use an optical cable and it'd work just fine

analog would also work, as ashmedai explains in this thread:

if you don't have either cable, I'd buy the optical cable and go that route
