X-Fi Platinum Question

I just purchased and installed an X-Fi Platinum card and it works great, but every time that I restart the computer, the new hardware thing pops up stating that there is a new pci device. I tell it not to tell me about it anymore, but it just keeps coming up. What should I do to stop it?

open up device manager (right click my computer, click manage, click device manager......... or windows key + R, type devmgmt.msc)

Find the device, right click, pick disabled

windows wont ask about it anymore

I suppose it could be simular to the Nforce4 issue but not sure. Some things you can try tho. Have you made sure your MB bios is up to date? Also did you make sure to completely remove any old drivers and software for the prev sound card? In your MB bios if your board has onboard sound make sure its set to disabled.

Now that I have the X-Fi, can I delete all of the audio codecs that I see other than the Creative codecs, or do I still need them.

Leave the codecs alone, they are still needed.
