When I installed the X-Fi Platinum audio card on my computer yesterday, the video under Windows XP Professional goes into 4-bit color. However, when I remove the PCI audio card from my computer. I no longer have video problems. Odd thing is when Windows is booting up the Windows logo and progress bar is displayed in full color.

My motherboard is an: Albatron K8X800 Pro II

I noticed that the PCI interface on my motherboard is PCI 2.2 compliant, however the Creative labs audio card is PCI 2.1 compliant. Would this be the problem?

Edit: I also tried all available PCI slots, but I get the same problem.
Also this motherboard has onboard audio, I disenabled it in the BIOS.

Sorry for my late reply to this thread (brain has been dead lately).

Turns out that when I increased the AGP Aperture from 128MB to 512MB, the soundcard now plays nicely with my video card? Though I am still not sure what this AGP Aperture is.
