X-Fi I/O Drive & SB Live! Drive

Anyone know if I can use my original SB live Drive 2 with a X-Fi XtremeGamer FPS edition sound card? I really don't want to buy the X-Fi I/O Drive upgrade kit if I dont have too... But I do need it..

I'm assuming I wont be able to use my Live Drive 2 as its older technology, but wanted to confirm before I make my purchase.

I can't recall the model # on the live drive, but I think its something like sb0010....

I think there's a different pinout for the x-fi bay. The second iteration of the Live! Drive and the first Audigy drives were interchangeable, iirc, but they switched the layout of the expansion header (again) on the X-Fi cards.

Apparently you can "unofficially" get the Audigy 2 I/O drives to work on an X-Fi. But for your situation, no, the drive won't work with an X-Fi.
