hey i wanted to buy the extrememusic version, but not platinum because of its cost, but i really want an I/O box too. even though im not going platinum, could i...say... get an I/O box off ebay and install it?

I thought that Platinum edition is the same thing as the ExtremeMusic edition except it doesnt come witht that box. So I would assume it still has the connectors for it. So if im right, I guess it work.

You can buy one later. Word of advice tho,if you think you will really want the X-FI I/O drive better to buy Plat now. You pay about $40 more upfront now but then you have it. If you wait till CL offers it as a seprate purchase it may be priced like the A2 drive they sell on CL's UK site http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/category.asp?cate=14 for around $150 USD. I learned my lesson after I bought my A2 w/o one, they were out of the plat A2 when I bought mine and sales person sold me on the "well you can get it later" fact when it would of been much cheaper to wait a week or 2 to see if they got some plat A2's instock. Also some ppl think that maybe you can use older driver with the X-FI. So far tho, I've not seen any actual confirmation of being able to use an A2 drive with the X-FI.

I agree with bratboy, you'll never be able to get the drive and the remote seperate for a reasonable price. If you want it it's best to just get it now.
