X-Fi - Game mode doesn't support 6.1?

I got an x-fi xtrememusic yesturday and like it so far, except that in entertainment mode it goes to all 6 speakers like it's supposed to, but in gaming mode it only goes to 5.1 (as in I can't hear anything in the rear center speaker in this mode).
I've looked through the settings and made sure 6.1 was enabled, and i've gotten driver updates from the website. Any ideas?
 
I just figured out that if you put it into 7.1 *even though I have 6.1 speakers* in game mode it will work with the rear center speaker....


I doubt anyone is surprised that creative of all companies would have a bug in their software...
