X-Fi Fatality Problem/Feedback Requested

About 6 mo ago I had ditch my Creative X-Fi Fatality for an ASUS Xonar because of one problem or another after switching to Vista, but I have not given up on my X-Fi, that's why I'm asking for help. I was hoping someone could give me some feedback on the new drivers which came out in Dec. 2008: SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0008.

I haven't tested thses new drivers, but the problem I had with the drivers prior to these were with a file named CTXFISPI.EXE. CTXFISPI.EXE would hang and cause a very long Windows shutdown, approx 5-7 minutes. The process could not be terminated either.

Please help, I don't like wasting money. I purchased my X-Fi upon releases of the card, back when their was only 3 version of the X-Fi and I would like to put it back into play. Feedback please on the Dec 2008 drivers, my specs are below, and yes I have an nVidia Chipset which I know is at the root of the problem.

Yout title should be "Nivida Chipset problem with X-Fi"
If you mobo hasn't gotten a BIOS update to fix this, you are SOL IMHO.

The problem started with my X-Fi with the release of Windows Vista. I had my Fatality long before Vista or my nVidia Chipset. I'm just curios Atech, how long have you had your X-Fi. I ask because I watched the X-Fi go from King of the road, second to none, to a sound card that now sits on a shelf in my closet and the X-Fi forum are full of people who share my opinion. Was Creative ready when they released Vista? No, although the alpha's and beta's had been around for three years. Creative claimed they didn't do any testing, but the truth is w/o hardware acceleration the card has no wind.
Now, the drivers they released prior to the dec 2009 actually sounded really, really good, sounded like it did under XP. But then I started having the issue with that file, and by the way there is a thread on it at the Creative forum. But can't get a solution there, the members are to busy arguing with the mods.

I have had my X-Fi since they got released and have no problems so far under XP or Vista, but then again I use an Intel Chipset (have used 2 intel chipsets with this card) so that might explain it.
