I recently reinstalled my X-Fi Platinum after a few months of using the onboard sound with the P5W DH Deluxe motherboard. I'm not sure why I bothered, as the onboard sound was fine, and I never have anything but problems with Soundblaster stuff.

At any rate, my problem now is that I can't find any kind of audio control panel to use on the soundcard. What I want to do is turn the volume on the subwoofer down, separately from the main volume (or just turn down the bass - I live in an apartment building), but there's no way to do this with the tools that I'm given, as far as I can tell.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm looking to open up and get to this tool, but I can't find that program on my system anywhere. The only thing I have in my start menu is the Creative Audio Console, which is just this thing. Do I need to download something different to get more control over the sound output? I didn't see anything that looked applicable on Creative's site. I ran and downloaded the 43.5 meg driver suite, which seems like it would've been big enough to include the program I need, but I don't see it on my hard drive anywhere.

I already have the volume on the subwoofer turned down, but it's still too loud for my apartment building (tissue paper walls).

my understanding from personal experience is that creative doesn't include that program with the drivers dled from there site you need the cd to install it

Oh, jeez. That's pretty stupid. Anyone know of anywhere to find that program? Otherwise I'll just have to yank the card out again.

Creative really knows how to do things the absolute stupidest way possible, don't they?

Download the ISO from this post it has the new and improved programs intended for vista. Install like you normally would just dont install the actual audio drivers included in this package.

The only thing that's truly stupid is how you purchased the unit without the necessary install CD, or lost or broke it.

It would be helpful if the programs were on the website as well.

Maybe his card fell off the back of a truck, and broke the CD on the way down.... ;) Though I have probably 600 CD/DVDs in stacks around my room and I hate searching for driver disks. Honestly, who doesn't have an internet connection these days to just download the latest driver off the web? I almost never install the drivers from a CD because they're bound to be outdated.

While it may be stupid that creative dont supply whats on the disc online there are dozens of way to go about getting them like the link in my previous post for example.

No reason to flip out here if you cant find a way to get the CD thats your own fault its been uploaded and shared on these forums alone dozens of times.
