Hi all,

I need your help in undestanding if I can buy a X-Fi Fatality board and use it with my Dtt2500 Creative/cambridge speakers set...what will I miss if they weren't fully compatible, in terms of connections and sound quality?

Now my set is connected to the Audigy via digital out with a Y-cable (DIN and AC-3) and I'm using it mostly for games.

I've posted the same question in Creative's boards, in a thread related to DTT3500 and X-Fi issues, but nobody helped me... and the thread was not too clear :(

Thanks in advance for your help,
Andrea

The X-Fi uses the same 4-pole Digital Out port, so you can use your current DIN adapter to connect the DTT2500.

I too have the DTT2500. Where can I get that DIN cable? I have looked on Creative's website but could not locate it. I would love to be able to hook it up properly :)

EDIT: Never mind...just checked again and I must have been blind before or they did not have it at the time but I found it. Although, can I get the same thing somewhere else?

Contact Creative's Salespeople, and they can get you one. I had to do that, and it was even free, but I don't know if they still offer it free.

I do not think X-Fi has digital out that would work with digital din on dtt2500.
DTTs are pretty old. Still: with coax or analog connections you will be able to use dtt2500.

where is the 4 pole Din located? Is it the flex-something-out mini-jack out?

Do you think that I can plug in the Y-cable with the mini jack that I'm using right now?

Sorry, but I still have no a clear image of the proper connections and I'd like to keep my
speakers set and still buy a X-FI.

Thanks again for help!

It's a 4-pole 1/8" mini jack to DIN connector / SPDIF RCA jack. I have one of them somewhere...

Anyhoos, you can get this from CL and then you can use your DIN to DIN cable to connect to your DTT2500

The Digital-Out port is the 4-pole port I am referring to.

I do have the Y-cable you are talking about, half connected to the DIN and the other half to the Ac3 RCA.

Will the X-Fi's "Flexijack" carry the 5.1 analog signal to properly feed the DTT2500's DIN input? Will I miss something in terms of sound quality/variety using 2500 and X-FI?

This is the doubt I still do have!

Thanks in advance!

Well, for starters:

1) The 5.1 output from the FlexiJack is Digital, not analog. The DIN is a digital transport.

2) Using the digital connection would mean you will be using the DAC and opamps on the DTT2500, so I would guess that the hardware on the X-Fi would be of higher quality. You'd be better off connecting via analog.

One more question and I'm finished!
What kind of cables do I need to connect X-FI to DTT2500 in analog?
Decoder has two mini jack inputs, front and rear (I'm assuming I'll have 4.1 or 4.0 in gaming, since non front/sub input is present, is it correct?), and I'd like to know how to connect them
and what aftermarket wiring should I buy!

Thanks again for patience!!
