Hey does anyone know if it is possible to hook my x box up to my computer so that i can play without having a tv. And if so how would I go about doing this

you need to look into getting a scaler to go from composite to svga or dvi... whatever your running...... another route would be to get a good input card that has compostie inputs.... also you will have to run your audio into your computer to get it out your speakers.....
Edit:Just saw you want to do a lappy display... well the scaler is out of the question.... but you can get external video inputs that run both USB and firewire....
 
dude i have no idea what your talking about..i know nothing about the subject. Could you try to explain it with like links to pictures to this stuff or something, and where i could buy it.. thanks
 
are you talking in through your laptop and just displaying on your laptop display, or taking your laptop apart and only using the lcd. one way you will need some sort of usb capture device....and there might, or will?, be lag. if you want to use just the lcd you will need to buy a controller card for that lcd and, well, its not very financially feasable.
 
I essentially just want to plug my xbox into my laptop some way and have the game display on the screen. No taking apart the laptop or anything.
 
Pretty much you need to get an external capture card/tv tuner or a pc card tv tuner. If you get a capture card it may or may not have the software with it for you to just use it as an input. If you get one with tv features then it should have the software to allow you to do it. External cards come in usb, usb2, or firewire connections. Stay away from usb1.1 devices.
 
heres the problem with wanting to game on an video input on a computer.... there is usally about a 1 or 2 second lag even on good cards... this is fine for reg video but for games it can be deadly.... the computer basicly has to act as a scaler to make a low res image into a high one.... this takes time... if you are really set on doing this... and its not sudgested on this end... heres what you need.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815116627... but once again by the time you react to whats happened on the screen it allready happened 2 seconds ago....
 
As far as I know there are no TV tuner cards for laptops that work with <1 second delay so for all practical purposes this is impossible. You will not be able to play games on it.
