How does Time Machine work? Sounds like it would fill up your HDD real quick!
exactly, is it hw or sw based? just run raid-1!!!! that dude was like 4% of people blah blah blah, dude raid-1 baby. tripple-quadruple redundancy, whatever floats your boat.

get retrospect by dantz, except people say it makes you computer run like mud!

I wish I liked the Mac Pro / Power Mac case more. I don't like the holes in the front; engadget called it the "cheese grater" and I agree. I also think the handles are too prominent and look awkward. Of course, I agree the inside of the case is a work of genius.

plus that design can't be cheaper to manuf

pretty sure the stream is drm'd

I searched GenMay for a bit for a link, then I got distracted by the Next Door Nikki Jerry Springer video, more fun than Steve anyway.

biggest dissapointment: dashboard stuff, fucking kill it already it sucks!!!!!
I disagree. Dashboard is pretty useful.

biggest surprise: quad = four separate processors w/ their own resources, not 2x 2x
Huh? The Mac Pro has two dual-core processors, not four separate processors.

how are the hdd being cooled?
Air cooling as in the Power Mac G5, I would think.

not much boost over the quad g5. that sux.
What are you talking about? The cheapest version of the Mac Pro is as good as the top-end Power Mac G5. This is the first time the lowest-end model of the new lineup has outperformed the highest-end model of the old lineup in modern history. I don't think it has happened at all since the original Power Macintosh.

oh and nothing on the ipod wtf? let's get a 16:9 touchscreen already and KILL FW400
This is a developer conferance, not a consumer one. iPods are rarely (ever?) announced at WWDC. They already killed off FW400, and I don't see why you'd want a touchscreen in the first place.

endgadget 83 says it haz super secret apple rumors ....

Yea.. I wonder what they have up their sleeve for the rest of the new features for Leopard.

I don't know. It's 1.25 hours of engadet podcast so that's a little bit more than i'm willing to spend.

it's prob. something like skins for the os or some eye candy since aeroglass already looks better than aqua

anyone notice that on the keynote, aero did look better.

I'm not too fond of Aero :) It is a subjective thing.

No, it didn't. That's why they were making fun of it.
when they took that side by side comparison with the aero black window on the right and itunes or whatever in the left side of the screen aero imo better

prob. why their top secret code is hidden, maybe apple's windows are 100% transparent ?¿

looks like engadget podcast 83 was just a rip of the wwcd keynote audio

too bad, nothing news wize

........ Dell or HP may use the same cases year-in year-out but not Apple. .

Your kiding right? Apple doesnt use the same cases?..lol

look at their power system, looks like the same silver case as the last few,... laptop, oh nice white laptops.... looks the same as their previous ones.. OH, they added brushed metal and black now... same case.

Let's see... The pre-G5 Power Macs looked pretty much the same for a period of four years. The second Power Mac G3 (blue & white) had the same basic design as the last-generation Power Mac G4 (MDD). The white iBook (dual USB?) was first released... how many years ago? The design of the white Macbook is pretty much the same. Evolutionary change, rather than revolutionary. The Tibooks and Alubooks are pretty different, that's true, but the Alubooks have been around for three or four years now...

It's basically just the iMac that changes rapidly. And even the iMac has undergone a processor transition without a new case design.

true true, but is there REALLY a need to change the design atm? Apple, imo, a few years ago with the PM G5, the alu books and the iMac G5 really took hardware design to the next level. However, only recently other companies have followed suite and it is becoming a more 'in' thing, therefore there is no need to change it if people still think the iMac, Cinema Displays and MacBooks look nice and sleek.

For us dedicated Mac people, we might be anticipating a more revolutionary design to take place, but for most the computer world out there, the Apple design of products is *still* ahead of normal PC's, and more PC-based people are getting used to the design. Besides, it still looks 'space age' imo :p
