Every once in a while my work unit will just restart. That is if I restart my computer or something, FAH loads up, and then its at 10/400 or something. It was JUST at 360/400 or so 10 minutes ago. I hate that. It takes my computer at least 3 or 4 days to complete a 400/400 WU. What the hell is going on? :D

Check in your FAHlog.txt file or in the FAHlog-prev.txt file for any error messages.
That will tell you if you finished the work unit or did if finish early.
And also if it was sent in.

Luck.......:D

Edit. If your doing a 400 step protien its a Tinker.
Theres a new beta Gromac core out which hopefuly wont lock up.

There is something wrong with F@H's checkpoint system... For some reason, a hard reboot without first shutting down the client results in a restarted WU. Nothing is stored in the logs and probably in the work files...

It seems that since v4.0 if the core gets killed it blows the fold.
Last week on 1 workstation the guys were trying to run 16 instances of a GIS mosaic operation. Blew away every instance of the core, and corrupted every WU.
I routinely kill the console in Task manager with no problem.

What OS are you using?
I have noticed that on my win98/ME boxen it always restarts from scratch after a hardlock, now the xp boxen usually will pick up where they left off.

Check to make sure that you don't have two instances of folding running. I had one boxen with this symptom that had two instances running (quite unsuccessfully!).

I'm running Win98. I see Winfah and FAHcore_65 in task manager. Those have been the 2 I've always seen so I'm assuming just one is running. I guess I have to shut down FAH before I reboot, and hope that it doesn't lock up anymore. LOL yeah right, in Win98, haha.

You should always gracefully shut down the client. (ctrl-c) You can just about guarantee yourself lost work if you just reboot or shut down windows without first closing FAH.

Now the lockups you don't have any control over, but oh well.

Fold On!
