WU vs reject rate

I just tried sgminer 4.1.0 which shows individual reject rates per cards. My 280x's are getting 1-3% reject rate. These reject rates include stale shares and I'm using multipool so I get a lot of stale shares when multipool switches coins!

My 290's on the other hand are getting 5-10% reject rate. I have 10 of them on two different rigs. This is on multipool but my 280x's are also on multipool.

I've tried changing the Intensity from I20 to either I19 or I21. I19 didn't really decrease reject rate per card and simply lowered WU. I21 at first increased the reject ratre to 10-15% but over time it dropped back down to about 10%.

Does WU consider reject rate? My WU is about 92% on my 290 systems.

I've read that thread-concurrency helps reduce the number of rejects but couldn't tell you exactly how. The higher the number, the less rejects supposedly. I'm testing the theory now with my 290s going from 20481 to 32768. I ran 20481 for a week on three 290s and the rejection rate was 2-4%. Rig has 8GB of RAM. So far, 10 hours on 32768 and I'm seeing the same reject rate. Will give it a full week before I make a decision. I will try to find that info I read.

It seems the biggest factor to rejection rates is your ping to the pool server. The lower the ping, the less chance you have of getting a reject. Supposedly there are nodes that have been setup across the US to help lower your ping but I haven't tried them yet.

Edit - Appears to depend on the type of pool as well.
