Hi, looking to buy your broken, dead, or otherwise not fully functioning laptop. Might even be willing to buy shells, depending on certain factors.

I prefer PII and above laptops. I won't buy lower unless you want to give me a smoking deal. AMD K6-2 and up is good too, as well as apple G3 and above.

I don't have heatware, but I do have an ebay account and successful transactions on the RX-7 club forum.

edit: send PM if interested.

bump, let me know what you have.

edit: also have a specific interest in apple laptops because I have a friend that wants one.

I may have a laptop for you...I just have to check if my client still has it or not.

For starters, here are some specs:

HP Pavilion
PIII 733 (Might be an 800, have to check)
256MB RAM
20GB HDD
CD-ROM
14" Screen

Essentially the laptop works. The minor catch, is that the touchpad and keyboard stop working on occasion. This only seems to happen when too much force is exerted on the underside of the laptop. For example, it sometimes happens when carrying it from one location to another (while it's on of course). I have plugged in a USB mouse, and that works, despite the "locked up" touchpad. If you're gentle with it, it works just fine. Perhaps you could fix it? The battery is good and will last just over an hour on a full charge.

My client just decided it was time to upgrade anyhow, and bought a new laptop. If you're interested let me know, and I'll see what he wants for it.

I just replaced my wife's old laptop with a new Vaio. I'm offshore now, but I should be home this weekend and I'll get you the specs. I believe it will only run when the battery is removed and it's plugged in.

Thanks,

Darwin

I have an old presario 702.
The only thing wrong with it is that the power plug inside the chassis sometimes loosens and the laptop turns off. The LCD is perfect, no scratches or dead pixels. I rarely used it and never took it on the road.

ive got a dell ispiron 8200 ... p4 1.6 256mb ram 40gb hd (i think thats what is dead) geforce mx 440 64mb... i dont have the battery though or the power plug (ex's dog chewed it... little f'er)... but it doesnt turn on and i dont know why... my guess was the hd

How much u asking?

I might as well throw mine in the mix too.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M15-s405 that's essentially dead.

The laptop has a nasty chip on the left rear corner and the plate covering the serial port is gone. Don't know what's wrong but after a couple blue screens and not booting to the desktop it won't power on at all now. Anyways here are the basic specs:

Pentium M 1.4 ghz
512mb ram (not sure about speed)
40gb hard drive (5400 rpm i believe)
Nvidia Geforce Go 420

Battery is in tact and I do believe I have the ac adapter lying around somewhere.

Hi, I'm putting a hold on this thread for the time being. I need to recharge my paypal account and do some fixin' :) I should be back though.

[How much for it

Since some ding-dong who can't read (and apparently can't spell "you" ) decided to bump my thread...

I might as well see if anyone else has a laptop they'd like to get rid of.

Hey, my friend has an older laptop. Back in the day it was real nice. Probably a p2, might be p3. Has dead HD, only thing wrong with it. I'll let you know more about it later.

I got a Gateway Solo 9100 i think, no hdd no ram. P2 266... PM if interested. Also got some older Toshiba Laptops P1's i think, several of those.

Bumping this thread again... if we started making a deal and never completed, LMK so we can finish up.

Particular interests:

vaio SR series books
Apple G3 or better

I have a half dead laptop :D

the LCD backlight went bad... I replaced it... can't get a picture but there is ze LIGHT!

Ooh, I forgot about this thread. I was going to reply back when I saw it the first time around and never did.

Anyway, I have a Compaq Presario 1270 that "works." The female portion of the power brick that plugs into the back of the machine is wonky, and having a hard drive in the system only signs the disk's death warrant.

Sending a PM...

I got a old AMD HP one... think it is 1 Ghz no ram no HD but still hahs bat that holds somewhat of a charge I might still have power cord to it.

LCD screen is good. I think keyboard and mouse still work. It posted the last time I had something in it.

If you want you can have for cost of shipping.

If you want more specs ask and if u need it to have ram + Hd i prob have something to put in it around this place let me know i dig it up

You're going to have to offer more than free, and personally, I think you should make your own thread...
