WTB: X-Fi Soundcard

Stay away from the XtremeGamer, and especially the XtremeAudio. They both use inferior parts compared to the rest of the X-Fi lineup, and although they still have the X-Fi chip they're very stripped down.

The sweet spot for price/performance is the X-Fi XtremeMusic. It's nearly identical to all of the other high quality X-Fi cards, except that it doesn't come with any of the superfluous items like the useless X-RAM, remote controls, front I/O Drive, etc.

You can find one brand new typically around $60-$75 (like this for example), and I'm sure you can find a used model for $50 or even less. Might even be able to find a brand new one for that price if you really look around and find one on sale or clearance since the card is actually discontinued.

The only other option for this price point is the X-Fi Fatal1ty Professional. While I absolutely hate having to recommend anything with his handle on it, this time the product actually isn't overpriced garbage. You can usually find one for slightly more than the XtremeMusic, and it's just as good. The only real difference between the two is the added X-RAM, which only gives a negligible performance increase in a couple games. :rolleyes:

I have a 4-month old Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional I'll sell you;

I'm having too much trouble w/ it under Vista x64/64-bit.

It was an excellent card under XP, and works under Vista 32-bit.

PM me, and I'll see what I can do.

I never sold anything myself via the internet.

Just to give you a heads up I have a xtreme gamer and it isn't stripped down like the xtreme audio. The xtreme audio can't do x-fi but the xtreme gamer can. The only difference that the xtreme gamer and the xtreme gamer fatal1y is that the fatal1y has the xram which is completely useless and the fatal1y has gold plated inputs and a few more input and outputs. As far as I know there isn't much of a difference past those points.

Well, I guess Smitty wasn't serious; no PM as of yet.
