I think you are also looking for a Windows 7 key. (Windows 7 will activate Windows 10), If you are throwing out any hardware snap a picture of the win7 sticker. I just used my last one. I moved my VM to a new machine which broke the activation :asad:
It was way easier to use a "garbage key" instead of calling MS.
 
I've had good results with vip-sckey in the past. Greg Salazar on youtube regularly has discount codes.
