Is this for a computer without sound, or do you actually want a decent card?

There are plenty of sound cards that are the same quality as onboard sound. So if you don't have onboard sound and need sound, those cards would be great. If you have onboard sound and want something better, they'd be kind of pointless.

Those are the ones you'll find cheap (< $20) though.

btw reason I'm getting this is because of a couple audio problems with static
