Want to buy working Soltek brand hardware. Bad capacitors considered at the right price.

Anyone here have some collecting dust?

Mostly looking for the following:

- Socket 462 motherboards - ATX​
- Socket 939 motherboards - ATX​
- AGP video cards​

Why are you interested Soltek only? Are you a collector? I remember Soltek has a pretty cool looking purple themed motherboard.

I would of have something for you if you query about this 3 years ago before I recycle my old AMD build.

I got a soltek socket 754 board back in the day, it was a great running board and had a cool purple theme to it. Had it running 24/7 for around 10 years, 5 of those years as a dedicated torrenting box and the other 5 as a folding box.

That article sold a LOT of Soltek boards in the shop I worked in at the time. Soltek even had a brand rep that would stop by with schwag from time to time. While that was fun, seeing about half the Soltek boards come back with bad caps a year later was not....

Sure it was disheartening. That "capacitor plague" radically changed the hardware corporate landscape. Those popular DFI lan party boards with their ultra high voltage settiings gave out rather quickly. Soyo, Chaintech, EPoX, Abit, and probaby Soltek (among others) all succumbed to the plague one way or another. Dell lost over $400-million, and a class action lawsuit. Eventually losing top spot to Lenovo. Some people (not me) are convinced the whole thing was a long term stategy to weed out the little guys helping big players dominate the market.

One thing I will say aboul Soltek (furthering my fanboi status) is they redesigned their nForce2 golden flame board several times. Last revision went back to the better Japanese caps, with all different cap layout to boot. A couple company techs were active in the AMDMB Soltek sub boards. I received one of their re-cap kits they offered free to those who asked by e-mail. Never used it. Think I used a couple of them to re-cap my Abit KR7A years later.

That was Friday's unboxing. Arrived a day earlier than expected. Purchased July 31st. Shipping notice reminded me of this WTB thread hence the necro bump.

Still looking for Soltek GPU, socket 462 and 939 boards if anybody has some to get rid of.

Asking price was $100. Accepted my counter offer at $50. Nice that it came with the carry bag, cords and extra front panel plates. The system fired right up after setting BIOS to optimized defaults.

WinXP home installed. 3ghz P4, 1gb 333mhz RAM, Rage 128 pro. Been wanting one of the nForce2 based Qbic but those are fairly rare and always sell at high prices. The socket 939 Qbic were problematic and ran very hot from what I remember.

No stellar Qubical Onion 2001se benches with this Rage 128 pro. 1,363 at 800x600x16 bit. Upgrading this SFF box with hardware already owned will wait until winter doldrums hit.

Thats a nice little system, I have a socket 939 shuttle system myself. Used to use it when I went to my friends house to do WoW lan party raids together. It was easier than lugging my big Lian-Li PC 70 over all the time.
