Hello people! First time here. I need a TI-89 for school. Wanted to buy from store but heard of this place looking for a good deal. Will pay via PayPal. Need calculator in good condition (pic please) w/ manual. I'm gonna need it for the next two years. Send me a message or email. Thanks for looking. :)

What do you need a TI-89 for? I've taken all kinds of math classes (Diff Eq, Matrix Algebra) and engineering classes and have yet to find a class for which a Scientific Calculator will not suffice. I dont want to sound preachy but honestly its a waste of money, reevaluate your educational priorities.

im a 3rd year engineering student and i haven't had any classes that required ti-89's or higher.. and i dont see how much higher you could actually go...

ti-89 might be handy in some cases but by no means do you need one..

sorry didnt mean to thread crap or anything, just responding to some of the replies, if you want one its up to you =D. I have a ti89 and ti86 and i almost never use the ti89, while my roomate who is an mechanical engineering student loves his, my other roommate who is a computer science and engineering student had a ti83 and was happy with that.

i keep mentioning engineering because we have to take the higher level calc classes as well as the higher level physics classes

Come on guys he is asking to buy one not what the general consensus is on their usefulness. Personally I have one and I could never part with it. I have found many other uses besides calc and physics homework including; the Calendar, Poker, Tetris, um, door stop etc.

To be honest with you though this is a little late in the game to try and pick one up here. Unless you get lucky and find someone who is willing to sell, I would recommend the Hot Deals forum over at Fatwallet.com. I used one of the vendors posted there and I ended up just going to Staples and PM to that vendor. Good Luck.

im a computer engineering / math double major graduate.

the ti-89 makes life a lot easier.

not to mention you can pipe over .txt files easily to "help" you on tests ;)

I'm an EE major and yes a TI-89 is very useful. What I'd reccomend is finding a place that sells them cheap online then printing that out and pricematching at staples/officemax. Also you might be able to find a coupon or two to make it better. IIRC - I pricematched down to like $105, then applied a $20 off of $100 coupon to get it to $85 out the door. That was like two years ago so of course my coupon wouldn't work anymore...

I dont know if any of you have ever used a TI-89 exclusively but it for me it definitely is much more powereful than any lower models. Started using it in Calc I as a sophomore in high school and got a 5 on AP and i attribute a lot of that to the calculator's abilities.

On topic, i have had several 89s because of them being stolen twice, and I recommend either ebay during the "off season" or running around town or calling up all the pawn shops near you. I got two off ebay for $84 shipped and one at a pawn shop for $50. Also if you know anyone who works at Target, they have the 89 titanium on sale for $130 plus the employee discount which came out to $122 total.

Thanks for the advice people. Really appreciate it. I owned a TI-86 before (which I gave to my brother) and I think I will just buy another TI-86 since I am very used to it. I just wanted to buy the TI-89 for the better display and faster processing speed. Since a lot of you nice people :) say that it is not a good idea to spend that much money, I think I'll just go with the TI-86. Thanks guys.
