not the normal WTB but...I'm looking for someone to build a high end gaming system for me using components I will have purchased myself...I will pay you for your time and effort...basically I will buy all the parts from Newegg, Zipzoomfly etc and am looking for someone to put the entire system together for me at my place...this person will have to be close to the NY (Manhattan) area

preferably the person is a high end builder themselves, with good cabling skills and technically proficient...this will be a very high end system so I need a person who knows what they are doing

if anyone is interested please respond to this thread or PM me...also let me know how much you would charge...I'm looking to do the build next week sometime...Thanks

projected system:

Mobo: ASUS Maximus Formula (X38)

CPU: Intel E8400

CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

Video Card: EVGA GeForce 8800GT

Memory: G. Skill F2-6400 DDR2-800

Hard Drive: 1 Western Digital 500 GB 7200 RPM drive

Power Supply: Corsair HX620

Sound Card: Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1

DVD-RW: Lite-On DVD-RW with Lightscribe

Case: Lian Li PC-A70

Windows XP Pro

Extra Case/CPU Fans: Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F or Noctua NF-S12-1200

Honestly I'd recommend you just build it yourself. It really is not that hard, even for the first time.

Probably the most daunting part for a first timer is putting a heat sink on, especially with socket775 being a little "wierd" but that's really not a big deal at all, because you can practice installing it as many times as you like, with zero risk. All you have to do to practice is attach the heatsink to the motherboard with the processor not in it a few times, and you're golden.

It's fun, you'll likely feel a little nervous the first time you push the power button, but when it boots up and works, you'll be excited and ready to dive in!

Not to mentioned, a lot more confidant about replacing something later should the need arise.

Have fun man.

Build it yourself, or find a friend to do it for free.

What you listed isn't very "high end", or complicated so the install is pretty idiot-proof.

I can do it, i am in MD. But like other said built it yourself it is easy as pie. To be honest this is not HIGH END.

elaborating on what the others said, they're completely correct
the parts you're putting together should be simple enough even without looking at manuals (the only thing would be plugging everything into the motherboard)
apart from that it's extremely self explanatory, basically nothing is going to be able to go where it doesn't belong lol
assistance may be necessary when you get into stuff like water/extreme cooling and the like
just give it a go man, most of us did without any help (I don't even personally know anyone else into custom PC building and went into completely blind)

good luck :)

Well that are some things you learn through experience like installing the CPU and HSF before placing the mobo into the case...

There's no advantage to installing the HSf for a socket 775 outside of the case or not.

While I personally find the mounting system for 775 to be more annoying than others, the push-pin style system does not require weird angles to get at the brackets.

But there is also no harm in it, so it's not really worth mentioning to him either way. Personally, for someone new, I would suggest putting the MB into the case before installing the heat sink, just as an easy way of ensuring the MB does not move.

Heck, we all had to start somewhere, right?

Maybe OP 1) isn't good at these things, 2) doesn't enjoy it like the rest of us nuts do, 3) doesn't have the time or 4) doesn't care to learn?!?!

You never know what other people's motive and/or reasoning are . . .

Anyhow, that said, the specs listed are very "mid-range" compared to most of the truly high end systems seen around here and should be a breeze to put together (hardest thing I'd envision for this build for him is running the cables cleanly the first time through). Heck, if I wasn't across the country in CA, I'd offer to do it for free.

Good luck with either finding someone or doing it yourself.
